KieraN Beveridge

Nice to meet you, My name is Kieran. I’m a physiotherapist (exam candidate) and personal trainer based out of Winnipeg, Manitoba. I work in a private practice, multidisciplinary setting with other physiotherapists, chiropractors, athletic therapists and massage therapists. Since 2014 I’ve worked with a variety of clients including; professional athletes, desk jockeys, weekend warriors and gym goers providing physiotherapy assessments, rehabilitation, one-on-one training, and exercise programming.

Before becoming a Physiotherapist I was an athlete, playing many sports during high school including, football, rugby, and wrestling. I pursued football after high school with the Manitoba Bisons and Winnipeg Rifles. I was 22 when I decided to hang up the cleats due to extensive head, neck and shoulder injuries. It was in 2014, after going back to school to pursue a degree in kinesiology and working as a personal trainer that I was inspired by my mentor (who was an athletic therapist and trainer) to pursue a career in physiotherapy.

Later that year, after many attempts at unsuccessful rehab I underwent shoulder surgery. Even after the surgery I dealt with chronic neck, shoulder and back pain which didn’t seem to resolve with everything I was trying. I was frustrated that no one seemed to be able to address my issues, which inspired me to learn as much as I could about the human body in order to become the best physiotherapist I could be. In 2018 I started studying physiotherapy at the University of Manitoba and worked with some amazing mentors in my internships which helped me to develop my approach to care. From what I learned I was able to get on top of my old injuries by changing my approach to training the body and the mind to alleviate my chronic pain.

My Approach

When I work with clients now I take an extensive history and perform a thorough physical examination in order to address all areas that are contributing to their problems. I take time to set functional goals with my clients so that I can get them back to all the activities that they love to do and take them further in their physical abilities than they thought was possible before their injury. I truly believe that the human body is strong, resilient and capable of adapting in many amazing ways if we are willing to put in the work to get it there. Using a combination of movement, exercise, education and hands on techniques I aim to help my clients realize their full potential as a human being.

When I’m not in the clinic I enjoy spending time with my family and playing with my 2 sons. We make a point of staying active by enjoying walks through the neighbourhood, going on bike rides, trips to the cottage where we go hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding and explore the land looking for wild berries. Being involved in football and working as a personal trainer I have developed a passion for strength training, my favourite exercise of all time is the deadlift. I am also passionate about yoga and meditation. I have been practising both for over 5 years and I incorporate these practices into my clients programs when needed. I have a passion for learning about the human body, the mind, nature, the environment and how all of these things interact to produce our experience as human beings.
